Help with babys first road trip?

SO my husband and i and our almost one year old daughter are taking a road trip from Houston to Chicago what are a few things i need to bring to try and keep her entertained well on our way there, she is not one of those babies that fall sleep as soon as you put her in the car. lol

In addition to the toys & books, etc. maybe a portable DVD player if your little girl likes to watch cartoons yet. My mom did that with my nephew when she went on a long trip and said it was great! He is into Thomas the Train so when he was tired of the toys she popped in the cartoons.

Babys who self weaned under a year? My 10 month old cries when I try to encourage her to nurse?

My daughter is 10 months old and only wants to nurse once during the day. She only will nurse right when she wakes up. Other then that she might nurse for a few seconds but if I try to nurse her she cries. She does drink out of a sippy cup now.
I feel like she wants to wean. Ill keep nurisng her first thing in the morning till she wants to stop but did this happen to other moms?

Wow, sounds like me 11 years ago! I have 3 kids, and my daughter did exactly the same thing at the same age. She wouldn’t cry, just lay there in my arms looking at me like "What am I supposed to do with this?" LOL
Both of my boys however, nursed past their 2nd birthday.
So I would say yes, it sounds as though she’s self weaning. You can always pump & offer her breastmilk in a sippy cup or a bottle. And I’d keep up the morning feeding as long as she’s interested. (For me, it was the bedtime feeding that was the last to go.)
Babies also tend to concentrate on one thing at a time, and if she’s about to hit a major milestone (like cruising, or walking on her own) it may be that she’s just "too busy" right now. Once she accomplishes her goal, she may start to increase feedings again. (That part I did not know with my daughter, but learned later, and it worked with both boys.)
Good luck!

Any ideas for a babys first birthday?

My Grandson will be a year old on February 13th and his mom doesnt know what to do ,please give me some suggestions Thank you

At that point it’s really about what YOU want to do. The child won’t remember it and they can’t do much as far as participating. Opening presents and eating cake is about it.

We just celebrated our daughters first birthday this past Saturday. I wanted to do something "different" too, but when it came down to it we ended up with a family party.

Presents first because of the mess of cake…and then cake. I made her her very own special little cake though and let her dig right on in with her hands and have fun with that. She had a good time. I also got her mylar balloons because she couldn’t have the latex ones due to the choking hazard and she has a great time with those! Plus, they last up to weeks so the fun keeps going.

What are some ways to bond and teach your newborn?

THis is my first baby and I’ve read some books and people have requested "Babys first Year" my son is 1 month old and I would like some advice on ways to bond and at the same time teach him new things. I know one good one is to read to him. What are some other ways to help my baby learn the wonderful things around him.

Babies don’t really learn at 1 month. They’re just getting used to seeing things let alone know what they do. Reading to him is fine, but don’t expect him to learn much from it.

As for bonding, just look at him and let him see your face and hear your voice. Sing to him, cuddle him, etc.
